Tokyo, the capital of Japan, has a lot to offer its visitors. You can enjoy some of the best nightlife spots, unique dining experiences, and creative museums.
Although there’s a good chance you’ve seen the pictures of Shibuya Crossing – they are very creative, there are many other fun things to do in Tokyo!
If this is your first time to go to Japan, also check out Tips for traveling to Japan, The Best time to travel to Japan – Very useful information! I also recommend taking a look at my final Tokyo travel guide and my Japan travel guide to give you land.
Here are the top things to do in Tokyo (not Shibuya Crossing)!
Visit the robot restaurant
The Robot Restaurant offers a show like no other.
While you can pay extra for a meal, the real attraction of Toyoko’s robot restaurant is the cabaret-style display that the venue offers, which includes dancing, singing, robots, and many other things you’ll only find in Japan.
Make sure you take the time to get to your seat and get your camera ready for all your Instagram-worthy photos. For more information about my visit here, check out Visit Robot restaurant in Toyko.
Go bar jump at Golden Gai
If you’re looking for things to do in Tokyo at night, check out Golden Gai. This area contains hundreds of small bars crammed into six small alleys.
You will feel like you have gone back in time to the 1950s as you wander the area.
Most bars open later in the night and do not serve food, so be sure to eat before heading there.

Takeshita Street

Explore the Harajuku region
another must see, scattered It is the perfect place for people to see and learn about young Japanese culture.
Get your nails done in generation and lovers And wander down Takeshita Street. Step into one of the many shops or sit down in one of the restaurants or cafés.
Meiji-jingu, one of Japan’s most popular attractions, and Yoyogi Garden, Tokyo’s largest, are both located in the neighborhood.

Akihabara District
Akihabara is a great place to explore in Tokyo for fans of electronics and manga.
The area not only has some of the most famous electronic stores, but it is also an entertainment area for manga lovers. Visitors can find figurines, stuffed animals, books, and costumes dealing with animation and video games in this area.
Ghibli Museum
One of my favorite things to do in Tokyo is to visit the Ghibli Museum. This museum displays the Studio Ghibli anime.
Director Hayao Miyazaki is known as Walt Disney of Japan.
Visitors can learn about the animation making process and enjoy Miyazaki’s work.
The museum has several rooms and exhibits that include short films, inspirational rooms, interactive rooms, and even a room with a larger-than-life Cat bus from “My Neighbor Totoro”.

Great Japanese dining experience
kaiseki meal
If you are a foodie and are looking for things to do in Tokyo during lunch or dinner time, try to find a place that serves kaiseki.
Kaiseki is a dining experience that includes a traditional multi-course tasting meal of seasonal (and beautiful) ingredients.
The meal can include everything from appetizer, second course, seasonal sashimi, soup, grilled fish, rice dish, pickled vegetables, grilled vegetables, fruit or cake.

ramen vending machine
You can’t go to Japan without trying ramen!
There are many different ramen shops around the city – you will have to taste a few and report your preference. But the coolest part in my opinion?
Many ramen shops have vending machines, but not vending machines in the American sense…
These machines allow you to customize the dishes! In the end, instead of the food going out, the ticket is dispersed. The ticket can then be brought to the kitchen where the food will be prepared.
You can also check the local Foods to try in Japan Which has some other dishes that you don’t want to miss while in Japan.
Visit Memory Lane
Memory Lane, or Omoide Yokocho, is a small alley lined with restaurants and food stalls.
It was formerly known as Piss Alley from its roots after World War II when restroom facilities were non-existent. Don’t worry – it’s just a name nowadays and it’s much cleaner.
Today, visitors can dine in one of the small restaurants that may only accommodate half a dozen customers.
Go on a food tour
When visiting Japan, one must try the food, and what better way to experience all that Japan has to offer than a dining experience Tokyo food tour.
Visitors can join Shinjuku Jumping Bar ToursAnd the Walking Tours in Shibuyaor even a Visit the fish market in Tsukiji with a sushi making experience.

Reward: Go-Karting cosplay
Do you like cosplay and karting? Why don’t you do both! One of the most unique things to do in Tokyo is cosplay Go-Karting.
Dress up as your favorite character and take to the streets of Tokyo in a mini buggy. Tours can take an hour or two and will take you through the actual streets of Tokyo and past some of the major attractions.
