So, I’ve put together a list of 10 things you forget to clean in your house (if you’re anything like me) — but this really, really should.

Top 10 things you forget to clean
The trash can, by its very nature, is probably one of the dirtiest parts of any home. We all know this to be true, but it likely isn’t an area we think much about cleaning. It’s time to tackle dirt once and for all. Start by placing the emptied trash can in the sink and add a few drops of dish soap. This is the place Field and Future dish soap from HEB Comes in clutch.
What do I love more than the scent of honeysuckle and rose? The fact that all of their products, including dish soap, do not contain any harsh chemicals and are made with 100% plant-based ingredients. Even if you don’t realize it, we open and close our trash cans several times each day – and you definitely don’t want to be exposed to anything toxic or chemical. Once you’ve added dish soap, simply scrub it in with a sponge and use laundry spray to get rid of grime.
Oh – and don’t forget the bag when you start filling up the trash next! I love Field & Future HE-B Disposable Bags. Literally, a trash bag made from…garbage. Clean and sustainable waste? Quite a thing.
I can almost guarantee that the faucet wasn’t on your list of spring cleaning supplies. If possible, make this hard-to-clean part of your kitchen a little easier by unscrewing the faucet. From there, spray with an all-purpose cleaner and use warm water and a sponge to rinse. For this task, while I’m adamant about doing a thorough job and getting a super clean result, I don’t mean to scratch my sink. Solution? the Field and Future from HEB no-scratch pads.
Pro tip: If there’s any grime around the spout (gross, I know), try using a toothbrush to loosen it up. Sparkling clean foam bags are waiting for you!
under the oven
While you could easily leave an under-oven area in your kitchen neglected for months, I recommend taking off the bandage and trying this easy trick for a clean, shiny finish. Wet a sponge and spray it with an all-purpose cleaner. From there, take a deep breath and run the sponge along the bottom edge of the oven. If necessary, wash the sponge in the sink, spray it again, and thoroughly wipe the floor under the oven. Finish with paper towels to dry.
Inside the lockers
before Organize your pantry, start with a clean foundation. First thing’s first, Marie Kondo your closets and get everything out! Spray shelves and inside cabinet doors with an all-purpose spray. Next, do a few swipes with a clean paper towel roll.
Another one of those things that can easily pass by the wayside: your collection of remote controls. Not to get too carried away with the potential subject matter, but let’s take a moment to think about all the hands that reach for those remotes every day. Are you ready to rub it in? thought so. Similar to your cabinets, spray the sponge with an all-purpose spray and* thoroughly wipe down the remote control. Do you have trouble getting into crevices and between buttons? Use a toothpick to remove dirt around the buttons. Paper towels for the win (drying)!
Have you noticed that your light bulbs are less bright? Either swap out your light bulbs (which, by the way, is nice to add to your spring to-do list!), or clean up the dust that’s collected over the past few months. All-purpose spray + paper towels = your ticket to brightening up your home.
Do you want a more thorough cleaning? Fill the sink with warm water plus a few drops of dish soap. Remove your fixture, let it soak for a few minutes, then rinse and dry it. Make sure to dry it completely with paper towels before putting it back in place.
Your blankets are probably the cleanest, low-maintenance, high-rewarding blanket on this list! Your washing machine is your best friend here. (But really, isn’t it always?) While you’ll definitely want to throw it in the laundry as part of your deep spring cleaning, take this as an opportunity to set a reminder on your phone or in your planner to do it’s bi-monthly habit.
I’m not going to lie – I wasn’t giving much thought until recently to how working out 3-4 times a week meant I was sweating on my yoga mat… a lot. Like your blankets, this is something you should be doing on a more regular basis than spring cleaning alone. While an all-purpose spray and wiping with paper towels is a quick and sure way to get a good clean, you can also use a dedicated yoga mat cleaner.
Following a ratio of 1 to 4, mix the vinegar or witch hazel with water in a spray bottle. I like to add a few drops The field and the future with HE-B’s Inhale Exhale Essential Oil. It’s made with eucalyptus, lemon, mint, rosemary, and tea tree. In other words, all natural scents that i want to be ingesting when i do dog downhill.
If you use a manual toothbrush, your custom dish will probably hide where the brush throws up a lot of residue. And while I’ll spare you the dirty details, leftovers often mean bacteria, viruses, and coli (salmonella and E-coli) are also hiding out. Spray the sponge with dish soap and rinse the toothbrush holder thoroughly in the sink. For a deeper clean, run it through the dishwasher.
Last, but certainly not least. While looking visually, you’ll notice all the hair that collects on the brush, and there’s also product residue, dust mites (gross, I know), dead skin cells, and oil that builds up from frequent use. In a basin filled with warm water, mix a few drops of shampoo or dish soap. Place your hairbrush(s) in the sink and use your hands to move them around until the suds fall out. Soak for five minutes and rinse until all the soap is gone. Spread a towel out on the counter and let the brush dry completely.
Remember that with all of these often-forgotten areas and your big, lofty spring-cleaning goals, perfection isn’t the point. Instead, I do my best to focus on progress and enjoy that clean satisfaction of catching up on your projects over the weekend when you can.
When you let go of the pressure to get your spring cleaning done as quickly as possible, you’ll look forward to a beautiful home that reflects all of your hard work.
