A woman attempts to enter China with over 200 Intel CPUs hidden inside a fake pregnant belly

What is this nonsense?! Chinese customs have arrested a woman returning to the country with 202 Intel CPUs and 9 iPhones wrapped around her torso and hidden under a prosthetic pregnant belly.

The would-be smuggler was a young woman crossing the border between Macau, an autonomous region, and Zhuhai, a city in Guangdong province near Hong Kong (via mydrivers). She was passing through customs at Gongbei Port when an official noticed her acting strangely.

The woman was walking through customs in a simple brown maternity dress when an official noticed her position was unusual for a pregnant woman (apparently) in her third trimester. Separated from the crowd and asked about her pregnancy, she said she was five or six months pregnant even though she appeared to be almost due. They patted her and discovered her prosthetic stomach and hidden appliances underneath.

She wrapped 202 CPUs and nine iPhones in molds with plastic wrap and attached them to herself above her stomach using duct tape. In the image of the goods shared on social media, the CPUs can be identified as Intel models based on the LGA 1700 package, so either Alder Lake or Rocket Lake. The iPhones look like the black models of the iPhone X or XS. If all the CPUs were of high quality, the total value could approach $100,000.

Smuggling is common on Chinese borders thanks to high import taxes. Many would-be smugglers have tried to cross the border with CPUs and phones tied to their bodies before.

In March, a man with 160 CPUs and 16 foldable phones It was caught in Gongpei Port. A pair of truck drivers returning from Hong Kong currently hold the record for most smuggled CPUs 256 processors strapped to the ends between them, and the phones scored 146 iPhonealso by a man who came from Hong Kong.

It looks like Gongbei Port could use some metal detectors to deter sophisticated smugglers. But as it stands, the only smugglers caught were either Intel processors or phones. If you’re looking to grab a slice of the pie, consider scoring some AMD Ryzen CPUs or some DDR5 chips on your stomach and try your luck.
