Las Vegas may be known as Sin City, and a huge party is coming to town at 5:30 p.m. PT on Tuesday.
Aja Wilson looked like she was broadcasting a classic from LMFAO and Lil Jon when she made a single request to fans after the Aces won their first WNBA Championship on Sunday. “Vegas, you have to take four shots.”
Now you might be wondering about the underage fans. Certainly 2022 WNBA MVP Not encouraged to break the law?
“Kids, take your ginger ale,” Wilson said. “But, you have to take four shots before you get to the show. And drink responsibly. But in order to get into the show, you have to be four shots. It’s not acceptable if you are not.”
Sunday’s 78-71 victory over the Sun marked the Aces’ first-ever league championship — and it happened in front of a losing crowd of nearly 10,000, per Yahoo Sports.
The first half was rocky as both teams showed poor shooting technique as Las Vegas only made 33% of their shots compared to 35% in Connecticut. The Pots were only two points ahead before the break – a low season for the team. Although the Suns rushed in in the second half, they were unable to overcome the power of the Aces.
Wilson scored twice with 11 points and 14 rebounds while WNBA Finals MVP-winning Chelsea Gray scored 20 points, five rebounds and six assists. “When you have a goalkeeper like Chelsea Gray, I didn’t even worry about a damn thing,” he said. Wilson said.
During the post-match press conference, Wilson confirmed that she doesn’t think people realize the scale of this victory. “This is huge so Vegas, attend.”
In the words of Wilson, “Be there or be square” but “if you don’t have four shots, don’t come. Stay home. Kids, drink some ginger beer.”
