Brandon Miller’s time at Alabama ended after one season.

Miller told ESPN Thursday that he plans to enter the 2023 NBA draft. Miller was widely regarded as the best NBA draft pick in college basketball during the 2022-23 season.

Miller scored 18.8 points per game and grabbed 8.2 rebounds per contest and played in all 37 games for Alabama. Miller never missed a game with the Crimson Tide though His alleged role in the shooting death of a woman in Tuscaloosa in January.

Gamma Harris was killed on January 15 when Michael Davis used a gun provided by former Alabama player Darius Miles to shoot her. Police said Miller brought Miles his gun before the shooting took place, though Miles’ attorney said Miller did not touch the weapon before it was allegedly used in the shooting.

Davis has no affiliation with the basketball team and Miles was kicked off the team after the shooting occurred. Both are facing murder charges. Miller, who is not facing any charges, He continued to play with the Crimson Tide even after his alleged involvement in the incident became public in February.

Alabama’s decision to continue playing Miller immediately became the biggest story of the college basketball season in the weeks following the revelation. Miller led Alabama to both the regular season and SEC Tournament titles as the Crimson Tide earned the top seed in the NCAA Tournament.

However, Alabama failed to advance to the Elite Eight and was eliminated from the tournament by San Diego State in the Sweet 16. Miller had a poor shooting performance in that game. He was only 3-of-19 from the field and had 9 points.

This was not the only tournament match in which Miller struggled. He did not score against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first round of the tournament and only shot five shots against Maryland in the second round. Overall, Miller shot only 8 of 43 from the field in the 3 championship games and was 3 of 19 from behind the 3-point line.

Miller’s draft announcement is quite expected after coming to Alabama as a five-star in the class of 2022. The Nashville native was ranked the 17th player in the country out of high school and quickly established himself as the top NBA draft prospect due to his combination of size and shooting outside.

Miller will probably be taken somewhere in the top 10 and It could even be among the top five. France forward Victor Wimbanyama is widely expected to be the top pick in the draft by any team that wins the June sweepstakes.
