This week’s news is that Google Workspace will have new AI tools Added to it throughout the year was not unexpected. It was another sign that if you weren’t interested in developing AI tools this year, you should start paying attention to it. Even if your school tries to block or ban AI tools, students will find a way to use them outside of school if not in your school. Next, here’s a rundown of some of the AI tools I’ve written about or made videos about in recent months.
Brief overview of ChatGPT
ChatGPT is an AI tool that will generate documents for you based on minimal input from you. For example, I simply typed in ChatGPT “Ten Canva Features for Students” and got it This article. ChatGPT can also be used to generate poems like This is about the sunglasses that Geraint Thomas wears.
With a little tweaking of what you put into ChatGPT, you can create longer articles than the ones I mentioned above. Simply, “Tell me more” or “How about X” can generate more ChatGPT material.
Magic Write is the AI tool built into Canva Docs. Magic Write works in a very similar way to ChatGPT. To use Magic Write, simply select it from Canva Docs’ insert menu. Once Magic Write opens, enter a short prompt like “Green Screen Video Tips” and Magic Write creates a short menu or paragraph for you (format depends on the prompt). You can then insert that writing into your document as it is written or you can edit it before including it in your document. Watch this short video To see how Magic Write in Canva works.
ChatGPT may be the first thing you think of when you read about AI today, but there were plenty of other AI tools before it. One of these tools is Lumen 5. Lumen5 is a tool that will produce a video for you based on your written work. To create a video using Lumen 5 You can enter the URL of your published work or submit the text of an article you’ve written. Lumen5 will then select highlights from your writing to highlight in a video. The video will always start with your article title. From there, you’ll use any existing subheadings or section headings in your article to create sections of your video. If you don’t have subheadings or section headings in your article, Lumen5 will try to pull keywords or phrases from each paragraph. Watch the demo below to see how easy Lumen5 is to use. Concept maps created by AI
cheerful It is a tool for mind mapping and concept mapping I tried for the first time two years ago. In addition to mind mapping and concept mapping, it can also be used to create Venn diagrams and other popular diagrams in a collaborative environment. Now whimsical has an artificial intelligence component. Whimsical’s AI tool creates concept maps based on any keyword or phrase you focus on on the screen. To use Whimsical’s AI concept mapping tool, you simply have to start a new concept map, enter a keyword or phrase, and then click on the AI icon. The tool will then generate a simple concept map of associated terms and phrases.
Typing detection created by AI
GPTZero It is a free tool for analyzing text to determine if it was written by an artificial intelligence program. There are a few features of GPTZero that make it a bit different from some of the other AI discovery tools I’ve tried. First, in addition to accepting text that you copy and paste into it, GPTZero allows you to upload PDFs, Word documents, and TXT files for analysis. Second, GPTZero will highlight for you the parts of the article that determine a high probability of being written by an AI tool. Third, GPTZero provides a perplexity score and split score to show how the AI tool determined whether or not a document was written or not.
AI text classifier is a free tool from Open AI, the makers of ChatGPT, that will detect if a piece of text has been typed using ChatGPT and similar AI writing tools. To use AI Text Classifier, you need to sign up for a free account on Open AI. Once you have an account, you can use AI Text Classifier. To use AI Text Classifier you simply have to paste a block of writing (at least 1000 characters, approximately 175 words) into the text field and click the submit button. The AI Text Classifier will then sort the writing as very unlikely, unlikely, unclear whether likely, or Possible Written by Amnesty International. For the record, AI Text Classifier is rated My article is about writing detection created by AI It is highly unlikely that it was written by AI.
AI check writing It is a free tool created through the collaborative efforts of the nonprofit organizations Quill.org and CommonLit. The AI Writing Verifier is a tool created to help teachers attempt to recognize writing that has been created through the use of AI. to use AI check writing You simply have to copy a snippet of text of 100 words or more and paste it into the AI typing check. The tool will then tell you the probability that the type was or was not generated by the AI. Thats all about it. AI typing checking is not foolproof and as noted on the site, students can still develop ways to get around tools designed to detect AI-generated typing. It’s also worth noting that it can handle no more than 400 words at a time.
AI Crossplag Content Detector This is a free tool that you can use to try to determine if an AI tool was used to generate a piece of text. Like other AI detection tools, Crossplag AI Content Detector is easy to use. To use it, you simply paste a block of text into the content detector and it will give a rating on the likelihood of using AI to generate that text. Watch my short video below to see how it works.
