Apple has officially announced the long-awaited iPhone 14 series. There has been a lot of controversy over the functionality of these devices since their introduction. Vital Vehicle Troubleshooting is one of the new features in the iPhone 14 series.
Apple claims in a support document posted on the official website that the purpose of this safety function is to identify dangerous vehicle accidents, such as rollovers, frontal impacts, and side impacts. Minivans, sedans, pickup trucks, SUVs, and other passenger cars are included. However, it is important to understand that not all malfunctions can be detected by the feature. If a serious car accident is detected, Apple claims that users will be able to access the feature through an Apple Watch or iPhone.
According to Apple, when a serious car accident is detected, a supported iPhone or Apple Watch will display a warning and issue an alert. Users can then call 911 by swiping the emergency call slider on their iPhone or Apple Watch, or they can silence the alarm. Plus, if they snooze the alarm again after that, the device will continue another 10 second countdown. The device calls emergency if it does not respond after this.
Set up emergency service on your iPhone:
Vehicle Collision Detection is enabled by default on supported iPhone and Apple Watch models. Set up your Medical ID and emergency contacts in the Health app to notify and share them with emergency personnel. Turn on Emergency Location Services (SOS) to connect your location to emergency contacts.
Although the feature will be enabled by default, users can also do the same manually.
Steps to disable the car fault detection feature in the iPhone 14 series:
You can turn off the feature by doing the following if you’re concerned that it might accidentally report a malfunction and seek help:
Visit the “Settings” option on your iPhone.
Scroll down to find the option that reads, “Emergency SOS.”
Under the section, turn off the “Connect after severe crash” button.

In order to identify serious car accidents, data from sensors such as the accelerometer and gyroscope from your devices are used. Unless you agree to share your data to improve collision detection, all sensor data required for critical vehicle accident detection is processed on the device and deleted when an accident is identified.
