Austin FC has signed goalkeeper Brad Stauffer to a long-term extension

The Austin Football Club has signed goalkeeper Brad Stuffer to a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2025 Major League S.hate Season with an additional option for 2026.

Stuver joined the expansion side ahead of his MLS 2021 debut, arriving via free agency after previous stints with New York City FC and Columbus Crew. The 31-year-old now stands as one of the most experienced goaltenders in Major League Soccer, helping Austin reach the Western Conference Final in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.

“Brad is an amazing asset to this team and the community, and we are delighted to have him with us for the next several years,” said Athletic Director Claudio Reyna.

Prior to arriving in Austin, Stuver played in nine league matches over the 2013 to 2020 campaigns. He has improved dramatically in the past two seasons, racking up 13 clean sheets in 64 appearances and stopping three penalties out of 10 against him. He is tied for eighth in the league in total His saves in 2022, second in the league for most clearances, with 33.

“From the moment I set foot in Austin, I have felt completely at home with the team, the community and the fans and I look forward to continuing my journey here,” said Stuver. “I’m excited to be back next year and continue making history with my team and this city.
