It’s been over six months since Ben Simmons joined the Nets on a deal from the 76ers.
While Simmons found his new home in Brooklyn, he did not play during the 2021-22 NBA season, choosing to focus on his mental health and back problems. As the 2022-23 season approaches, Simmons joins former NBA star JJ Riddick The old man and the third Podcast to comment on his experience playing in Philadelphia and how the city can be a difficult place to play.
“People in Philly want to have something to say and —— anything man…literally everything,” Simmons Tell Redick if not firing was a factor during his time with the franchise. “Post a picture of a car, dog, I’ve had reporters say you should be in a gym.”
Far from chasing Simmons over his lack of shooting overseas, the three-time All-Star said playing in the city was an “incredible” experience for him, despite what some might think due to the way his time with the franchise ended.
“I had a great time,” Simmons He said. “The fans are incredible. I still have an apartment there, so I still have some real estate in Philadelphia. … I feel like I’m still a part of Philly still.”
I appreciate the time I spent in Philly because… I have lifelong friends there. I have my brother who lives there, as if I have a family there. … I think people have an idea… I think I hate it.”
Redick played two seasons with the Simmons in Philadelphia. The full podcast between the two will drop Thursday morning.
