Primal movement: direction that transforms fitness
Over the years, we’ve seen all sorts of complex, technology-driven fitness evolve. There are mirrors that double as home trainers, machines I can’t wrap my head around, and the deeply intertwined relationship between wellness and consumption. With endless options, it’s no wonder fitness can be overwhelming at its best, and exhausting and exclusionary at its worst. For this reason, when the Primordial Movement Wind first caught fire, it probably let out the deepest sigh of relief.
But what does this trend – this is not a trend at all – look like in practice? And are its benefits really all that has been identified? (Spoiler: Yes.) To get answers, I spoke with Triana Brown, Director of Talent and Product Development at solid core. We’ve discussed all the ins and outs of primal movement, including how it can elevate your fitness routine, how to incorporate it into your practice, and whether or not primal movement is just a passing trend.
What is primitive motion?
Like I said, back to basics. Just as intuitive eating (trusting your body to make food choices that feel good) has exploded in recent years, primal movement relies on moving your body in a way that feels natural and instinctive. Primitive movement functions to support us in our daily lives. Whether that’s playing with our kids, hauling groceries, or making up for sitting all day at our desks. Primal Movement is concerned with how good you feel in your body — not how it looks.
Brown agrees, stating that “primal movement means listening to your body, exploring how your natural body moves, and testing the physical and mental strength of your body.” What’s more, and perhaps what I love most about primitive motion, is that you move in a way that feels intuitive YouIt gives you the opportunity to connect with your body’s inherent wisdom. “You meet your body in place, make the necessary adjustments and push yourself more when desired,” says Brown.
What are the benefits of primal movement?
While many trainers and fitness experts can share thoughts on this trend, I reached out to Brown because primal movement is a key component of fitness. [solidcore] work out. According to Brown, it consists of “a slow, controlled primal movement to overload and break down the muscle fibers of the slow extrusion of the target muscle” (those are red fibres which contain more myoglobin which carries blood and thus helps you move or stay longer).

How to incorporate primal movement into your exercise routine
As we noted above, the initial movement can be done in what are called “workout snacks”. here they are Short bursts of movement It usually takes 1-2 minutes. And while you may initially think that exercising longer will yield greater results, the cumulative effectiveness of snacks makes them effective forms of exercise.
It’s important to note, however, that the primal movement can also be part of a larger workout. Here are some basic positions and movement exercises to help you get the primal movement into your routine. Before starting any fitness routine, talk with your doctor or medical provider about what works best for you.
