  • Coinbase (NASDAQ 🙂 has received DNB registration approval.
  • The exchange can now offer its full range of products to its Dutch clients.
  • The Netherlands is an addition to the 40 European countries Coinbase currently serves clients in.

Coinbase announced that it is officially registered with the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank or DNB). It is the first major global cryptocurrency exchange to gain regulatory approval from DNB.

Successfully registering as a crypto service provider with DNB has enabled Coinbase to offer its full range of retail, enterprise and ecosystem products and services to its Dutch customers.

In the blog post of the announcement, Coinbase shared that they consider this registration a very important milestone in Coinbase’s ongoing international expansion.

In addition, the cryptocurrency exchange also shared its view on winning approval for regulation. Coinbase believes that industry regulations enable the growth of crypto, allowing distinct grounds for an enabling environment for innovation and development, as well as enhancing public trust and industry policy makers.

Nana Murugesan, Coinbase Vice President, Internal Business Development, said Coinbase aims to be the world’s most trusted and secure platform and to collaborate with governments, policy makers and regulators. He further added:

Coinbase prides itself on being a compliance-based company. The Netherlands is an important international market for cryptocurrencies, and I am really excited for Coinbase to bring the potential of the crypto economy to market here.

Coinbase currently offers crypto products and services across 40 European countries with dedicated hubs based in Ireland, UK and Germany. However, the platform expects further expansion into other major markets through registrations and license applications in accordance with local laws.

Coinbase records appeared after the Dutch central bank introduced crypto products for the first time in the Coin issue.
