With the growing popularity of NFTs, September 20 has been designated as International NFT Day. The celebration began five years ago on this day, when Dapper Labs CTO, Ditty Shirley, coined the term “non-fungible tokens.” Shirley proposed the term in a paper he released, the ERC-721 standard, which eventually became the framework for NFTs.

International NFT Day is all about honoring the creators and collectors of the NFT community. Moreover, the celebration of this day encourages people to learn about NFTs and develop their own collections.
While celebrating the NFTs’ fifth anniversary, Dapper Labs commented,

It is estimated that the NFT industry will reach $231 billion by 2030, which is too big a business to ignore, believes Tarusha Mittal, COO and co-founder of UniFarm, a multi-token rewards program.
However, NFTs will become more than just an industry. Their attractiveness extends far beyond evaluation, as they become collectibles that people cherish and identify with. Edul Patel, CEO and co-founder of crypto platform Mudrex, reiterated this statement by saying:
that they [NFTs] Able to replace physical paper documents in every sector, ensuring better security. NFTs will soon become a part of our daily lives with their unique method of proof of ownership.
We are very close to the day when NFTs will be as widespread as credit cards, if not more so, believes Kameshwaran Elangovan, co-founder and COO, GuardianLink. Elangovan expects users to become accustomed to the convenience, reliability and transparency of NFTs as they become the de facto standard for digital collectibles and gaming assets.
