Of course, Apple comes with it a little differently than the rest of the companies. The date, time and notifications can be seen on the phone screen even when it is locked and lying on a table. The most important parts of your screen are usually left running.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max both come with Apple’s Always On Display feature turned on by default, but it’s not always active. According to the Apple Support page, the capability is automatically turned off in a number of scenes to conserve battery life. The screen goes completely dark on these 8 different occasions mentioned below:

  • When the iPhone screen is facing down.
  • When the iPhone is saved in the wallet or pocket.
  • When iPhone is connected to CarPlay
  • When the user uses the continuity camera,
  • When the phone is idle
  • When the wake or sleep schedule, focus sleep mode or low power mode is activated by the user.
  • When the Apple Watch is linked to the iPhone and the user is out of range.

However, Always-on Display feature can also be turned off manually. Follow these steps to prevent the feature from working for your convenience:

  • Launch the Settings app on your iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
  • From the menu, go to the “Display and Brightness” section.
  • Scroll down to find the option that reads, “Always-on.”
  • Toggle the “Always On” option as per your choice.

You can also customize your Always-On Screen by designing your own Lock Screen with images from gallery, custom wallpapers, stylish fonts, colors and widgets.

With the new Low Power Mode and upgraded technologies, the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max screen can operate at a refresh rate as low as 1 Hz and even completely darken the lock screen. When you lock your device or leave it idle, the screen goes dark. The A16 Bionic’s Always-On Display also uses a number of co-processors to refresh the display while drawing as little power as possible.
