What just happened? EA Sports’ next college football game — and its first since 2013 — is scheduled to arrive in the summer of 2024. Daryl Holt, vice president and general manager of EA Sports, tells ESPN that’s the best date for them to deliver a game that will meet or exceed players’ expectations. . Holt noted that previously rumored release dates were inaccurate and that the game was not delayed.
“We’re trying to build a very immersive college football experience,” the CEO said added.
EA Sports – a trademark of Electronic Arts announce It was working on a new college football game in early 2021. At the time, EA said it had secured the rights to more than 100 colleges to feature their unique logos, stadiums, and traditions that fans know and love. Student-athletes’ names, photos, and likenesses were not part of the original deal, which means the game won’t feature the players you see taking the field each week.
The NCAA rules involving player compensation have changed dramatically since then, with athletes now allowed to compensate for the use of their name, image, and likeness (none). This could pave the way for EA Sports to include real players in its next game, but it’s unclear how the system will be structured or if EA will be able to sign deals with full rosters.
“If you look back at where we were talking in 2021, that avenue was closed,” Holt said. “I think I said something about the fact that we were passengers on this trip, just like everybody else.
“Well, the road is open now, but it’s still under construction.”
We know the game will feature the return of two popular modes: Dynasty and Road to Glory. In Dynasty mode, players will run a college through multiple seasons and even engage in off-field activities such as recruitment and transfer gate work. Path to Glory allows users to create a player and follow them through the entire college football process.
EA Sports’ last college football game was NCAA Football 14, which featured Denard Robinson on the cover. EA canceled The next scheduled game in the series due to a licensing dispute with the NCAA involving player compensation and a new college football game has not been released since.
