PM Narendra Modi launched 5G services in India on October 1 at the Indian Mobile Congress. While carriers are optimistic about 5G services and their adoption in India, which is one of the biggest Challenges that the Government of India and telecom companies will face It is the availability of real 5G devices containing the 5G bands required to connect to the spectra that will operate in India.

Techarc data shows that the festive season sales in India, which will likely continue until Diwali, will likely bring in more than Rs 1.44 crore in revenue for the Indian smartphone industry. This will constitute up to 43 percent of the total revenue projected for the 2022 calendar year.

By unit, this holiday season sale will see about 32 percent of total projected sales for the 2022 calendar year.

Of the 51.7 million smartphones that will be sold during the festive season, Techarc estimates that about 30 per cent of these will be 5G smartphones, which in terms of revenue will make up about 66.7 per cent of the total revenue of the Indian smartphone industry, which is expected.

Techarc’s research also shows that 37.8 percent of the 5G smartphone sales volume will be in the Rs 25,001-50,000 price segment, while in value terms, the Rs 50,000 and above segment will be around 66.9 percent of the total revenue earned.

Faisal Kousa, Senior Analyst at Techarc said in an interview that Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, OPPO, Realme and Xiaomi will be aggressive during the festive season. Together, these seven brands are expected to generate approximately 90% of the total sales volume for this period.

He also said:

“This festive season will be all online, 5G and premium. We expect users to take advantage of the offers and plans along with the choice that platforms and brands will collectively offer during the period, giving consumers a chance to upgrade to a premium 5G experience and prepare for the service, which will be rolled out gradually. Starting next month.”

Techarc expects 65-68 percent of sales to come from online e-commerce platforms and D2C channels.

There is a reason why sales this festive season are going well for the Indian smartphone industry. Rising global inflation has made consumers mindful, making them spend wisely on products like smartphones that affected their sales in the first seven months of 2022. Kawoosa said it’s unlikely that brands will come up with great deals on the latest models.
