Flexible NFL “Thursday Night Football” schedules, but the number of times teams can play bad timeslots

A major shake-up of the NFL’s infamous “Thursday Night Football” will take place, with the potential for even greater change on the way.

NFL owners have voted to approve a change that would allow teams to play two TNF games on short rest in one season, according to NFL Network’s Tom Bellicero. Teams previously only had to play one game in a season.

The scale was one of Several rule changes were voted on by the owners on Tuesday.

The owners have reportedly put forward a proposal that would offer flexible scheduling for the duration. Previous reports indicated that such a system would allow Sunday afternoon games in Weeks 14-17 to move to Thursdays with 15 days’ notice.

Given how much gamers hate the load of games on four days off and the amount of fans (and broadcaster Al MichaelsThey mocked and criticized Thursday’s matches, It was sold to Amazon last season for $1 billion a yearHowever, proposals to increase the number of times an elite team could play that day were bound to prove controversial.

Take one of those players who now looks very likely to play an extra Thursday game multiple times for the rest of his career:

On the flip side, you have the influencer New York Giants owner john mara, who called the idea “offensive” to fans attending matches:

“People are used to going from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night, it just doesn’t mean they like it. This year, we could be flexing it to a Monday night, which I think is really inconsiderate of our ticket holders. The game back to Thursday night, for me “Just an insult. I’m very much against it. Luckily it didn’t get enough votes today, but it will probably be reconsidered in May.”

As Mara points out, this is clearly not settled, but Jones and his allies now have only two months to find voters willing to switch sides.
