Over the past few months, whenever I’ve scrolled through the Product Hunt, almost every new product has been an AI-powered product. Or at least they claim to use artificial intelligence. One that jumped out to me recently is cheerful.
cheerful It is a tool for mind mapping and concept mapping I tried for the first time two years ago. In addition to mind mapping and concept mapping, it can also be used to create Venn diagrams and other popular diagrams in a collaborative environment. Now whimsical has an artificial intelligence component.
Whimsical’s AI tool creates concept maps based on any keyword or phrase you focus on on the screen. To use Whimsical’s AI concept mapping tool, you simply have to start a new concept map, enter a keyword or phrase, and then click on the AI icon. The tool will then generate a simple concept map of associated terms and phrases.

Geeks call their AI tool the “AI Mind Map” tool. However, it is actually a concept mapping tool because AI does the work for you that your brain could otherwise do. This does not make it a bad tool, it just means that it should not be viewed as a mind mapping tool. As a concept mapping tool, it can be very useful for creating a diagram of related terms and phrases. Showing these links may be useful for some students who need help seeing how the concepts are related.
