Ghanaian Parliament swept Harry Maguire in a bizarre debate

Ghana’s parliament was laughing after the country’s vice president was compared unfavorably to him Harry Maguire.

Isaac Odongo accused Dr Mahamudu Bawmia of being an “economic Maguire” and frequent own goalscorer during the 2023 budget debate while his colleagues laughed at the surprising footballing similarities.

Once Maguire, Odongo said, “took on everybody and threw his body all over…he was seen as the best defender in the world.”

But then Manchester United He bought the player for £80m and quickly became “the biggest threat in Manchester United’s defence”.

“[He was] Dealing with Manchester players and providing assistance to opponents. Mr Speaker, when you see opponents score, Maguire will score for them,” Mr Adongo continued.

“Mr. Speaker,” he added, “you remember in this country we also have an economist Maguire. This is an economist Maguire, we applaud saying this man is the best at managing foreign terms.”

Maguire himself, an economist at Central University, was lecturing on how to restore the value of the cedi [Ghana’s currency]. Mr. Speaker, why this gave us Maguire the opportunity to be at the center of our defense, he has become the rest of our targets.”

The odd football analogy is then supplemented with a series of economic stats to make the point before Odongo concludes that Ghana’s “biggest problem” is that they have to “pay the appearance fee for this Maguire”.

Maguire wasn’t the only player involved in the discussion either.

In response to Odongo’s speech, MP Alex Tetteh Djournoboa told members that it would be better to “keep Maguire” than to bring back a player they now know is “the worst striker in the whole world”.

He is, of course, referring to Chelsea’s decision to bring in Romelu Lukaku Returning to Stamford Bridge at great cost and using the diversion to try to convince the members to abstain from voting the former president back into power.

Given that Lukaku missed a number of clear chances such as Belgium is out of the World Cup On Thursday, he might be right.
