Ingredients you will need for immune shots
Lemon: Fresh lemon juice is a rich source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that can help support the immune system and help activate immune cells. [1, 2, 3] The body cannot make vitamin C on its own, so it is important to get plenty of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C in your daily diet. These immune shots can help!
We used half a medium lemon in this recipe, but you can use more if you like. There is no need to peel the lemon if it is organic, as it also contains beneficial compounds in the oils of the skin and increases the flavor of the lemon in your picks.
orange: Also rich in vitamin C, orange adds natural sweetness to these immune-boosting infusions to balance out the spices of ginger, turmeric, and lemon flavor.
We love using mandarin oranges for their flavor, but they’re also higher in vitamin A than regular oranges. Vitamin A plays an important role in boosting immunity and regulating the response of immune cells, and is important for healthy immunity. Any type of orange will do the trick.
Fresh ginger is the best! a 2013 study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology It was found that fresh ginger supports the health of the immune and respiratory systems, while dried ginger has no effect at all.
You will only need a small 1-inch piece of ginger for this recipe. It doesn’t sound like much, but the ginger flavor, although a little sweet, is tart.
Turmeric: Native to Southeast Asia, this antioxidant-rich superfood is from the same family as ginger and has a warm, spicy flavour. Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful immune-boosting compound responsible for its bright golden yellow colour.
We used fresh turmeric for this recipe, which you can find in well-stocked grocery stores or Asian markets. If you are unable to obtain fresh turmeric, dried ground turmeric, unlike ginger, preserves many of its benefits, and can be used instead.
advice: While turmeric is incredibly healthy, so does turmeric and anything else it touches. Be sure to use gloves and wipe surfaces immediately.
Raw apple cider vinegar (with mother): Made from fermented apple juice, apple cider vinegar contains nourishing vitamins, trace minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids, but it also contains organic acids and bioactive compounds believed to be responsible for its immune and digestive properties. . It also contains gut-friendly probiotics that support gut health and improve immune function.
When using apple cider vinegar in food preparation, make sure it says “raw” and “contains mother” on the label. The “mother” is the cloudy substance inside the jar and it’s made of proteins, enzymes, gut-friendly bacteria and immune-supporting compounds unlike processed products.
black pepper: Black pepper contains a compound called piperine, which research has shown can increase the absorption and bioavailability of curcumin in the body by preventing its breakdown by the liver. One study found that it can boost the activity of curcumin in the body by up to 2,000%! [13, 14].
A pinch is all you need, but if you can’t stand the pepper, don’t worry. The fats in the oil in this recipe also help increase absorption.
UDO’S OIL™ 3 • 6 • 9 Blend of Omega Fatty Acids: Healthy fats can improve the absorption of nutrients and immune-boosting compounds that are fat-soluble, such as vitamin A and curcumin, in the gut.
Odo oil is Blend of organic flaxseed, sesame and sunflower oils With a rich, nutty and buttery taste. It is also a rich source of plant-based essential fatty acids (EFAs) including omega 3 and 6 which are essential for healthy immune function and a healthy immune response. *
While most of us get too much omega-6 in our diet and not enough omega-3 fatty acids, our immunity can suffer. Recent research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids may play an important role in strengthening immune cells and improving the immune response. [16, 17]
Udo’s Oil has the perfect 2:1 ratio of omega-3 fatty acids to omega-6 fatty acids for optimal health that you won’t find in other vegetable oils.

How immune system shots work
Step One: Prepare the Fruits and Spices – As long as it’s organic, you won’t have to peel the lemon and orange if you’re using an auger juicer. You can skip the ginger and turmeric peels, too. In fact, the oils in the peels can add more intense flavor and healthier plant compounds. Just rinse it well before squeezing. Chopping it up into the smallest pieces can help the juice extract all the nutrients.
Step two: extract the juice
Juice method: Once you have prepared the lemon, orange, ginger and turmeric, put them in the juicer. Gather the juice and then get ready to add the rest of the ingredients.
Mixing method: Put them in a blender with a little water and blend until smooth. Pour into a piece of cheesecloth and press into a bowl to extract all the juice. Wear gloves, because the turmeric will stain! You can also put the mixture on a fine mesh sieve and allow it to filter into a bowl. Expect some pulp this way.
Step 3: End immune shots
Add apple cider vinegar, Odo’s oil, and black pepper to the juice. This recipe serves about 2 ounces. Divide it into two small bottles.
Adjust the taste! There is no right or wrong here. Want more spice? Add a little ginger. More Tang? Lemon is the way to go. If you need more sweetness, add more orange or a little raw honey.
