Legendary Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second person to set foot on the moon, said he married his longtime girlfriend on Friday, his 93rd birthday.

Aldrin and Anka Faure, Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures, married in a private ceremony.

Aldrin tweeted along with photos of him and Faure, who is said to be 63 years old, “On my 93rd birthday… I am delighted to announce that my longstanding love of Dr. Anka Faure and I have tied the knot.”

“We joined holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles and we’re as excited as teens on the run.”

According to her LinkedIn profile, Faur earned her PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 and previously worked at Union Carbide and Johnson Matthey before joining Buzz Aldrin Ventures. She also served as treasurer of the California Hydrogen Works Council.

Aldrin’s previous three marriages ended in divorce.

The American astronaut is the last surviving member of the Apollo 11 mission, where he and Neil Armstrong became the first to set foot on the moon, on July 20, 1969.

Michael Collins, who piloted the command unit while his colleagues walked on The surface of the moonHe died in April 2021 and Armstrong died in 2012.

Since retiring from NASA in 1971, Aldrin has remained a staunch advocate for space exploration.
