We’re hiring again: This time for a full-time Associate Trade Editor to help update our buying guides and work with our new review team to turn their expertise into actionable advice. Want to throw your hat in the ring? Then keep reading to find out more!

Assistant Commerce Editor — full-time, remote

Are you an experienced writer and editor who will feel comfortable working in a fast-paced remote environment, working on our buying guides to ensure we recommend the best products available? This might be the work for you!

(Note: This job is for a remote work from home job.)

In short, How-To Geek is looking for someone who loves tech products and is a solid writer, researcher, and editor. You must have experience writing about technology products and be able to keep abreast of new technological developments. You’ll buy guides on everything from laptops and routers to phone cases, USB cables, portable battery packs, robotic vacuums, and tablets.

You’ll work with our Commerce Editor to update our buying guides, research the best products, write about products, and perform other tasks as needed.

We recently opened a corporate office and are expanding our audits as well. You will also work with the reviews manager and the reviews team to turn the insights from our reviews into actionable buying advice for our readers.

What would you do

  • Work with our Trade Editor to regularly review our library of buying guides to ensure recommended products are up to date and available.
  • Find and write updated products to recommend for our buying guides, as well as complete any other update related tasks that may be necessary.
  • Work with our reviews team to incorporate insights and recommendations from their experiences into our trade articles.
  • Complete other related tasks as may be necessary, including working with freelancers on creating new buying guides or on updates to existing buying guides.
  • Occasionally write buying guides and other trade-related articles on your own.

skill requirements

  • Demonstrable experience writing about products, especially technology related products
  • Hands-on experience writing for an online audience (plus points for experience in an editorial role).
  • The ability to dive into topics related to new technical products and learn them quickly
  • Focus on details and focus on deadline, with an attitude of getting things done
  • Extreme attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Work experience in WordPress is the best
  • Basic working knowledge of SEO principles is a plus
