But after 17 games, Saint Brown was finally laughing. He was quick to point out that one of the poles captured before him stood on the rival touchline for most of the Lions’ win over Washington leaders in week 2.

“Even the leaders, they took a man before me there,” Saint Brown pointed Wednesday. “I think his name is diamy brown. I don’t know how many catches he had–maybe you guys can tell me that–or how many yards he had, but I don’t forget things like that. I see him across the sideline from where I’m standing during the match. … I didn’t see him much in the game.”

He’s right: Diamie Brown, who had 30 picks ahead of St. Brown’s, has played a total of four offensive shots this season and without any reception. Meanwhile, St. Brown played in 87 percent of the Lions’ shots in week two and finished with nine receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Eighth game in a row with at least eight catching. He has 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns throughout the year.

Brown quickly became one of the league’s top young receivers. Within two weeks, he ranked fourth in receptions, tenth in yards and tied for second in receiving touchdowns in the entire NFL. Among his fellow recruits in 2021, Saint Brown ranks second in receptions, third in touchdowns and fourth in receptions. Saint Brown is also the third under-23 player to score touchdowns in at least six consecutive games – the other two being Randy Moss and Rob Gronkowski.
