Iran predicted the squad against Wales

Iran still has a chance of reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup as long as they can recover from a heavy defeat against England in their opening Group B match.

Carlos Queiroz named the squad five defenses against England, but it didn’t really work out. There is more burden Iran to be more open to a more positive opposition when they face Wales and the United States in the coming days.

Here’s a look at what the Iran coach could name against Wales.

Mehdi Tarami

Goalkeeper: Hussein Hosseini – He is set to continue in goal in place of the concussed Alizera Beiranvand – hopefully for his sake he won’t concede six goals.

Right back: Sadiq Mahrami Facing the pace of Daniel James could be a tough test after a rough run against the Three Lions.

CB: Morteza Bouraliganji – Fit in the air but his distribution against England was poor and has to improve so Iran can keep the ball.

Central defense: Majid Hosseini – A physical battle with in-form Wales striker Kiefer Moore could be a defining part of this battle.

Left back: Milad Mohammadi – He struggled so hard against England that he became hooked after an hour. Is another start in the near future? Probably.

Right midfielder: Alireza Jahanbakhsh – An important source of creativity, Iran will depend on Jahanbakhsh to achieve good in the wide fields.

CM: Ahmed Nourallah – He was outclassed by Judd Bellingham and Declan Rice on Monday but will be more at home against Wales.

Name: Saeed Ezzatallah – He seemed to pick things up when he came against England and Queiroz might reward that quest with a start.

CM: Ehsan Hajisafi – A captain can offer more in midfield with a tactical shift and greater numbers in midfield.

Left back: Waheed Amiri He can get a chance to start after not leaving him on the bench the last time.

Attacker: Mehdi Tarmi – Score twice against England and will almost certainly keep Sardar Azmoun out of the team – that is, unless Queiroz decides the pair need to play together.
