Jimenez and Pineda points, Alvarez thrives with Ajax

The Mexican national team figures are once again returning to their clubs.

Santiago Jimenez continues to thrive with Feyenoord, netting his fourth goal of the season, while Orbelin Pineda scored in his second consecutive match to take seven goals for AEK Athens in 20 appearances. Elsewhere, Edson Alvarez played an integral part in Ajax’s defense against Excelsior for a much needed victory.

Santiago Jimenez opened the scoring for Feyenoord against Twente on Sunday morning, heading home in the 28th minute of the match.

Although Twente eventually found an equalizer in the second half with a 1-1 draw and each team earning a point, Jimenez took his place in the starting line-up. This was the Mexican’s fourth goal in 17 matches with Feyenoord, since joining in July 2022 from Liga MX Cruz Azul team.

Pineda Orbelin

Pineda strikes again.

The Mexican scored again for AEK Athens, this time against Aris, and inspired a 3-0 victory and three points. He has now scored seven goals in 20 appearances this season, quickly becoming a regular fixture under manager Matias Almeida.

AEK Athens currently leads the Greek Super League table with 47 points in 20 matches and a record of 15W-3L-2D. Despite the slow start to his career in Greece, Orbelin Pineda is now unstoppable.

– Edson Alvarez played the full 90 minutes for Ajax against Excelsior, propelling the Eredivisie giants to a 4-1 win.

– Guillermo Ochoa headed Salernitana into the starting 11 against Lecce, finally getting his first win with the Italian side since joining in December.

– Johan Vazquez started at Cremonese, playing the entire match against Inter Milan.

– Cesar Montes adapts well La Ligahe played the full match against Almeria.
