LG Electronics India will start domestic production of side-by-side refrigerators in the country after it opened a manufacturing line at its Pune plant. The facility, located in Ranjangaon, Pune, which was inaugurated with an investment of around Rs 200 crore, will manufacture side-by-side refrigerators as well as two-door and single-door refrigerators.

“This expansion is a step forward in making India self-reliant. LG Electronics is fully confident in making India a powerful manufacturing hub. We will also export from this facility,” said LG Electronics India General Manager Hong Ju Jeon.

In addition, the LG Pune factory, which is spread over 52.8 acres of land, produces single and double door refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, air conditioners and monitors.

With a production capacity of 200,000 side-by-side refrigerator units annually, LG Electronics has stated that this manufacturing expansion will be crucial in meeting growing customer demand and expanding the company’s product line in the Indian market.

Hyun Ok Lee, President of LG Electronics Global Refrigeration, Hong Joo Geun, Managing Director of LG Electronics India, and others attended the opening of the new facility.

“Localization has been an important differentiator for us because we are constantly making products using Indian inputs,” Jeon said.

Every year, he added, “We are growing our domestic production activities. Last year, we started producing inverter window air conditioner in India at a manufacturing site in Noida. This year, we started producing side-by-side refrigerators in India at a manufacturing facility in Pune.” , which was established in January 1997 in India and has completed more than 25 years of experience, has two manufacturing units in Greater Noida and Pune.
