Transfer Marine linebacker Tyler Kane knew what he wanted to find when he entered the transfer gate. Turns out, West Virginia offers all of that and more.
Cain, who has committed to the Mountaineers as his platform of choice, felt Morgantown offered the perfect mix of a place where he could get chances on the field and be comfortable off it.
“I love how everyone in the entire state of West Virginia is involved in football and that’s the environment I want to be in,” he said.
Cain let in linebackers coach Jeff Koons with Tyler Allen knowing he was planning to sign up with the Mountaineers and both were excited about the news. Allen was the coach that Ken spent the most time talking to throughout and the coaches believed he could help the program.
He said, “Tell me I can land here and get a place.”
The coaching staff sees the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder as either a Mike or a next-level bandit and is impressed with his physicality, speed, and explosiveness in the position.
Ken has visited Morgantown on two separate occasions and believes the Mountaineers are on the rise and will soon be back to their winning ways. And he understands that when you consider that he’s a native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and grew up near the program.
The main reason for his transfer was the government passing a bill where members of the Service Academy could no longer go professional and wanted to have the ability to chase his dream. This led him to West Virginia where he would have a chance to prove what he could do.
“I feel like I can come in and make a huge impact on the team,” he said.
Cain will arrive in West Virginia on June 26 and will have all four years of eligibility remaining.
“Now all I have to do is learn the plays,” Cain said.
