The Big Picture: Logitech’s new portable G Cloud replaces the performance of Steam Deck for better battery life and a lighter form factor. It does not require sophisticated internal features and sophisticated cooling solutions as it relies on streaming games from the cloud or on-premises PC/Xbox instead of rendering games locally.

Logitech only a statement The first portable console was developed in partnership with Tencent. Unlike the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, Logitech aptly named G Cloud focuses primarily on cloud gaming services, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. Players can also stream games locally from their PC using the Steam Link app or from Xbox via the app of the same name.

The Logitech G Cloud is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, an octa-core processor with a boost frequency of 2.3GHz typically found in mid-range phones, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It runs an older version of Android (11) with Google Play Store pre-installed, allowing users to download mobile games, social media apps, and video streaming services. Owners can also use it as a tablet.

At the front, the G Cloud has a design reminiscent of its competitors, with a 7-inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 60Hz. Surrounding the screen are controls, including two analog joysticks, a D-pad, and four action buttons. There are also left and right bumpers and triggers on the upper side.

The mobile phone comes with stereo speakers, microphones, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot for users who want to expand the storage space of the device. The 6000mAh battery is charged through the USB-C port, with an impressive battery life of over 12 hours from Logitech. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 support is also available.

Logitech’s G Cloud will start shipping next month, and the only color currently available is white (probably due to the cloud theme). It will cost quite a bit $349considering that Steam Deck packs a lot more horsepower at a similar price point, but pre-ordering will net you a $50 discount.
