Mason Greenwood has released a short statement saying he is “relieved” after Greater Manchester Police dropped all charges against the Man United forward.

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling, coercive and assault behavior, and allegations involving the same woman last year, and after investigation, the GMP confirmed that all charges had been dropped.

GMB confirmed the news in a statement earlier Thursday: “Given the significant media coverage of this case, it is only fair that we share the news that the 21-year-old man, who has been arrested and charged in connection with the commission of a crime, opened in January 2022, He no longer faces criminal proceedings in connection with this.

“The investigation team remained in regular contact with the legal team, providing any notable updates, thus understanding the rationale for discontinuing the proceedings at this stage, and that this decision was not taken seriously.

And despite the media and public interest in this issue, we have decided not to comment on it in any further detail.

“However, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate GMP’s commitment to investigating allegations of violence against women and girls and to supporting those affected, regardless of their circumstances, during what can be a difficult and upsetting time for them. An increasing number of officers are receiving specialized training and troops are being used extensively. More consistent tools are available across the criminal justice system to keep people safe and care for victims.”

Greenwood has now responded with a statement of his own, writing: “I am relieved that this is now over and would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.”

Manchester United Their own internal investigation is slated for the matter.
