The former NFL Network pulled out Dallas Cowboys And the network announced that Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin has been removed from this week’s Super Bowl coverage following allegations of misconduct at a hotel Sunday night.
“Michael Irvin will not be a part of NFL Network’s Super Bowl LVII week-long coverage,” Alex Riethmiller, NFL Media vice president of communications, said in a statement, according to a statement. Dallas Morning News.
Neither the plaintiff – a woman – nor the media went into detail about the nature of the allegations. Despite this, Irvin told the Morning News that he did not recall any problems with the encounter with the woman, but they shook hands and spoke for less than a minute in the hotel lobby.
“Honestly, I’m a little confused by the whole thing,” Ervin told the Morning News. “This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I came back after coming out… I came into the lobby and talked to someone. I talked to this girl. I don’t know her, and I talked to her for 45 seconds. We shook hands. Then she left. … That’s all What I know.
“I don’t really remember that conversation, to tell you the truth. We were out drinking. It was just a friendly conversation. ‘How’s up?’ I don’t even know… I’m so confused.”
Irvin has been an analyst for the network since 2009 and covered Super Bowl Opening Night on Mondays. This is when he was told about his conversation with the woman. Irvin said later “Shan & RJ” on 105.3 the Fan in Dallas He was told he had to change hotels after the interaction but still doesn’t know what happened.
“When I came to the hotel, they asked what I did and I said, ‘I went straight to the room,'” Irvin said. But I think I met someone in the lobby. I talked to someone in the lobby for about a minute and then went to my room, and then after I woke up they said they had to take me to the hotel. I said, “Move me to the hotel for what?”
They said, ‘Well, I came in last night, and I talked to someone. I said, ‘I didn’t talk to anyone. I went straight into the room. Then they showed on camera that I spoke to somebody. I talked to this girl for a minute. I don’t know what – they didn’t show me that. They told me that. I didn’t see it. But that’s it.’ The reason they moved me, is because I think the girl said what I said something her at that moment when we spoke, and so they moved me.”
No further updates have been released regarding Irvin or the complaint against him at this time.
