Mikel Arteta has hit back at the suggestion that Arsenal are favorites for the Premier League

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has refused to indulge the idea that Arsenal are now favorites to win the Premier League title this season after they beat Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal initially came from behind against United who had only been defeated once in all competitions since early October, before being tied for their own. But Eddie Nketiah scored his second goal of the match to win 3-2 in the end.

With half the season now delayed, the result leaves Arteta’s side five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand. On top of that, they have only lost once in the Premier League this season and have shown impressive mental strength to secure results.

After pressuring the preferred title label, Arteta claimed he had no say. However, by describing it as ‘conceiving’, the Spaniard seems well aware that people say it openly.

He commented via “I don’t have an opinion, it could be a perception” Arsenal.com.

“I know my team very well. I know where we are and I know we are here and I know where we want to be, and we’re still a long way from that. I know the level of other teams, especially the one that won everything in the last five or six years, and we’re not quite there yet.”

Whichever way you look at it, Arsenal You haven’t been in a situation like this for 15 years. Their last serious title challenge came back in 2007/08, while the “Invincibles” generation of 2003/04 remained Arsenal’s last Premier League champions.

“Wonderful, I’d say!” Arteta said about the first half of the season.

“It didn’t get any better than that, that’s the truth. I think we deserve the points we have, I think we played well enough to win most of the games, but the truth is also that we still have a lot of things we can improve a lot in attack and defense. Transfers On set pieces, that’s the goal.”
