Mizzou Stat Breakdown: Turn on the game’s efficiency

[ad_1]

Most teams that like to pass the ball like Missouri, understand that they have to start the running game first. The Tigers enter the regular season finals with a mixed bag of results from the running game that led in part to a 5-6 record. There were reverse changes, poor rushed productions, flops and more.

For this exercise, we’ll just look at Brady Cook‘sCody Schrader‘s And the Nathaniel PittAccelerated totals because they account for 80% of flights entering week 13.

Speed up production in wins

Louisiana Tech: This will be the only time the trio has had 60 or more yards and a touchdown in any game this season.

Abilene Christian: Cook had 292 yards and three touchdowns passing on the day, so that was the focus of this contest but the trio still averaged 6.13 yards per carry.

Vanderbilt: This would be the last match in which Schrader and Pete would have a similar number of touches. Peat fumbled in the red again in this game and the Drinkowitz Schrader would be the team’s advantage going forward.

South Carolina: This was Missouri’s most balanced game on offense and defense and would be Schrader’s first time on top. He didn’t have a great day, but he was efficient and kept the chains moving for the Tigers.

New Mexico: Drinkowitz would call this game the best shredder game of the season after finding the end zone several times. This would be Cook’s second consecutive game with a total rushing north of 70 yards. Peat will gain three yards on one carry and lose three yards on the other.

Production accelerated losses

Kansas State: The offense couldn’t go on for long and he went down double digits relatively quickly and had to get back to passing the ball. It would be one of the two matches Schrader and Pete combined in under 50 yards.

Auburn: Peat led the charge in this game and at the time Peat had his career high in rushing yards and second career high in a 100 yard rushing game. Ironically, this day will be remembered most for what he did on the last play of the game which was a fumble in the end zone leading to a 17-14 victory for Auburn.

Georgia: This was a game more about the Missouri defense holding their top 15 offensive lead to 12 points through three-and-a-half quarters and a mezzo kicker. Harrison Mavis He made all five field goal attempts, including three from 49 yards or more. Schrader had a 62-yard rush that put the Tigers at UGA’s one-yard line.

Florida: Another good game from Peat which saw him hit a career high on the floor. This loss is not due to the running game, but to the passing game and Cook’s two costly interceptions.

Kentucky: This was a game that saw the Tigers rally and lead 17-14 at one point in the fourth inning after Cook scored both rushing scores. This was also a Missouri head coach game Eli Drinkowitz He said he thought the team had Schrader work hard.

Tennessee: This was Cook’s best game of the season in both passing and rushing. Mizzou led to a season-high in points (24) against the Power 5 team and a career-high 106 rushing yards. This was the second game in which Schrader and Pitt failed to rush for more than 50 yards. when you add Elijah YoungMissouri running back Mark Jackson, who had three carries for 21 yards and a fumble, had 16 carries for 58 yards and a fumble.

The Tigers are 4-2 in games when Schrader was the leading rusher. Peat’s six times finished as the worst of the three and the Tigers were 3-3 in those games, but they move to 3-4 when you remember Peat’s fumble at Auburn. Peat has two of the three fumbles between the three, with Cook fumbling against Kentucky on a scramble. Tigers are 1-2 in games when they fumble a rushing attempt.

Cook did fumbles against Abilene Christian and Vanderbilt, but both were bare sacks on plays he didn’t attempt to scramble. However, Missouri won both contests.

In wins, the trio averages 30 carries, 143.6 yards (4.78 yards per carry) and 1.6 touchdowns per game.

In losses, they average 32 carries, 120 receiving yards (3.75 yards per carry) and a touchdown.

One of Missouri’s biggest problems this season has been loss handling. A lot of it has to do with the offensive line and struggles of this stance group, but not all. Schrader played in all 11 games and had only 22 yards lost to tackles for the loss. Peat played in nine games and had 54 yards to tackle for loss. Lost 20 yards alone against Kansas State. Schrader had three games where he lost no yardage while Pitt only did so once.

The Southeastern Conference’s league average is 176 yards per game and Missouri’s average is 152.3 yards per game. In games where the Tigers rush for fewer than 176 yards, they are 4-6. They have only rushed over that mark once and that was a win over Louisiana Tech.

In games when they rush for 152 yards or less, they are 4-5 with being 1-1 when they rush above that mark.

Currently, Schrader is ranked 14th in the SEC with 604 yards and seven touchdowns for an average of 54 yards per game. In games when he rushes for 54 yards or more, Mizzou is 5-2. In games when he doesn’t, the Tigers are 0-4.

Cook has the seventh-most rushing yards for an SEC champion and is the 29th-most in the conference with 409 yards and five touchdowns for an average of about 34 yards per game. In games when he rushes for 34 yards or more, the Tigers are 4-2. In games when he doesn’t, they’re 1-4.

Peat ranks 30th in rushing in the SEC with 399 yards and two touchdowns for an average of 39 yards per game in nine games. The Tigers are 2-3 in games in which he rushes for 39 yards or more. In games when he doesn’t, they’re 2-2 (not including games he didn’t have a rush).

The biggest problem is that the Tigers don’t rush to get the SEC average high enough and that can hinder the passing game as the Tigers have shown for most of the season.
