Officially headed by Nottingham Forest midfielder Louis O’Brien football League.

The player will join D.C. United on loan until July 16, although the contract contains an option to buy.

As previously mentioned before 90 minutesThe parties agreed to the terms of the interim period after manager Wayne persuaded Ronnie O’Brien to sign up at D.C. United.

“Lewis has been one of the best players in the tournament over the past few seasons,” Rooney said in a statement. “He reads the game well and creates goal-scoring opportunities. Bringing him on loan from Nottingham Forest was a great job for us and he would be a great addition to our midfield.”

The player’s future was initially in jeopardy when he failed to secure a move to Blackburn Rovers on deadline day. Director of Football Greg Broughton revealed that Rovers had “internal and external” reasons why submissions had been delayed, and the club appealed the decision in hopes of sanctioning the move.

But the Premier League rejected the offer because Rovers had not submitted all the required paperwork in time.

The unfortunate result left O’Brien unable to feature until the end of the season, after Forest did not name him in their 25-man Premier League squad for the second half of the season.

But Rooney stepped into a new chapter with the Lions and Reds in Major League Soccer. O’Brien will now join D.C. United with one goal in 17 matches under his belt. They are third in the Premier League in the past six months after striker Christian Benteke arrived last summer from Crystal Palace and Matthews Klitsch joined this winter from Leeds United.

Under Rooney, D.C. United saw a good start to the 2023 campaign with four points in four games and a 1W-1L-1D record. After concluding the 2022 season in last place in the Eastern Conference, the head coach is hopeful that the new additions will propel the team from the bottom to the playoffs.
