OnePlus’ Cloud 11 event is just around the corner. One of the tools that will appear at the event will be the company OnePlus Buds Pro 2which will be one of the first companies to support Android 13’s spatial audio with head tracking.
Spatial audio is one of the many features that Google is fitting in Android 13. Since the feature was introduced this month, there aren’t a whole lot of devices that support it yet. Google plans to add support to the Pixel Buds Pro, but hasn’t released a firmware update for them yet.
As a result, it looks like the upcoming Buds Pro 2 will be among the first to support this feature. OnePlus has confirmed that its new headphones will take advantage of Android 13’s spatial audio with head tracking, as well as its own spatial rendering algorithm and IMU sensor, to deliver 3D audio experiences.
In addition, the company revealed that its earphones will also use Android Fast Pair and audio conversion features. According to OnePlus, this will allow the Buds Pro 2 to connect to two Android devices at the same time, allowing users to quickly switch audio sources without having to fiddle with Bluetooth settings.
“With Android 13, we’ve added spatial audio functionality while giving partners the opportunity to use it within their own devices,” said Eric Kay, Android vice president of engineering. “With OnePlus incorporating this new framework along with support for quick pairing and voice switching, we look forward to adding the Buds 2 Pro series to the Android ecosystem of connected devices that all work better together.”
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is scheduled to be launched at the OnePlus Cloud 11 event on February 7, 2023.
