Oregon ground a commitment from 4-star Michael Van Buren QB

Oregon He picked another highly regarded recruit on Saturday.

Four-star and 2024 prospect Michael Van Buren has announced his commitment to the Ducks. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and his staff have managed to defeat the quarterbacks out of Baltimore Maryland And Pennsylvania state.

“I feel like Coach Lanning is really building something special at Oregon,” Van Buren said he told On3 On why he decided to commit to Oregon. “He’s too big for the family and that really stood out to me. I also feel like my style of play really fits into the attacking scheme.”

Van Buren visited the Oregon campus in April, precipitating the decision to commit, originally scheduled for July.

Scout reviews and recruiting evaluators for Van Buren vary. He has been rated a five-star recruit, a top 20 prospect overall, and the second best quarterback prospect by ESPN. But most recruiting sites rated Van Buren four stars. Standing at 6-foot-1, Van Buren is seen as a loyal quarterback. He threw for 606 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions in four games last season for St. Francis Academy.

Van Buren is the second quarterback in the Class of 2024 to commit to Oregon State. Three-star quarterback Luke Muga of Phoenix committed to Oregon in April.

“Moga and I have already talked, and we’re great,” Van Buuren told On3 about being the second midfielder to join the class. “We’re both competitors, and we’ve told each other that when we get there we’re going to work and make each other better. May the best man win the job.”

Quarterback commitments in the class of 2024 may be designed by Lanning and his staff. The Ducks lost Dante Moore’s 2023 five-star commitment in December when he flipped to University of California. Moore was widely seen as a top three prospect in the class of 2023.

Van Buren and Muga’s commitments also set the stage for either of them to become Bo NixKhalifa in 2024.

Van Buren is the 13th prospect of the Class of 2024 for Oregon Commitment. The Ducks prepare to join another talented recruiting class in Lanning’s second full recruiting cycle with the program.
