Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has won the PFA Vertu Motors Premier League Player of the Month award for December.

The Norwegian won the award for the third time this season, after winning in August and September.

Haaland, the Premier League’s top scorer from distance, continued his impressive form in December after a month-long hiatus from the World Cup.

A boyhood Leeds United fan, Haaland’s first game as a player at Elland Road ended with him scoring twice in a 3–1 victory.

Three days later, he scored the opening goal at home to Everton in a 1–1 draw with the Toffees.

Haaland proved to be the clear winner for the December prize, taking 40% of the vote. His closest rival, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, received 29% of the vote.

Casemiro bounced back from World Cup pain with Brazil to record a dominant month alongside Rashford with United, coming in third with 11%.

Arsenal captain and Haaland compatriot Martin Odegaard came in fourth with 7%, while his teammates Bukayo Saka and Brentford striker Ivan Toni received 6% of the vote.
