Pigs in the Blanket is probably the most adorable appetizer name ever, right? The idea is simple. A hot dog (or other pork sausage) is wrapped in bread and baked.
The pigs in the blanket resemble a hot dog with baked bread, or perhaps like a more elegant (and baked) corn dog. While I tend to think of pigs in a blanket as an easy appetizer idea, you can also easily modify this recipe to make this a meal idea instead.
Pigs in the Blanket is also a simple recipe with basically just two ingredients, but endless ways to customize to your preference. For example, you can easily substitute a hot dog for another meat (like all beef) or even a vegetarian hot dog.
You can add cheese or top it with fresh herbs or something fun like All bread seasoning.

Ingredients for Pigs in a Blanket:
- Hot dogs – or other sausages such as: Little Smoky, turkey or beef dogs, or vegetarian dogs
- Crescent roll dough – or you can use crust pizza dough (whichever works well)
- Butter – A little melted butter is brushed on before baking which will make it golden brown

directione:
Cut the hot dog into two bite-sized pieces. I used a little smoke here, so I cut them in half. If you are using a standard size sausage, you may want to cut it into thirds.
Roll out the dough and cut each triangle in two.
Roll the sausages in the dough. Place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops of the dough with a little melted butter and bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes, until the crusts are golden brown.

Tips for success:
- Add seasoning to the tops after brushing them with butter, eg All bagel seasoning or sesame seeds.
- Serve with any condiments you’d like to dip it in, such as ketchup and mustard.
- If you are using pizza dough instead of crescent moon dough, you will have to cut the dough a little differently. But just remember that you only need a small triangle for each pig in a blanket.
