Player ratings as Ferguson snatches a point for the Seagulls

Leicester were denied a win in spirit after Ivan Ferguson snatched a point for Brighton with a late header in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Kaoru Mitoma cut inside and curled a beautiful ball to launch the Seagulls up front, but Marc Albrighton got the ball back by volleying into the near corner after some chaotic defending from the visitors.

The Foxes took the lead in the second half when an unmarked Barnes scored, beating Robert Sanchez with a powerful shot from close range.

However, Brighton pressed on and reclaimed their share of the spoils when Ferguson rose to the highest level for his third league goal of the season.

Jean-Paul van Heek came close early on his full Premier League debut, but a light touch from Danny Ward fluttered the path of the ball and Van Heck ended up clearing the crossbar inside the six-yard box.

Brighton He quickly progressed as the electric Mitoma continued his impressive modern form. The Japan international collected Pervis Estupinan’s pass and breezed in from the left, hitting with a right-footed curler into the top corner.

Dennis Bright and Adam Lallana both picked up injuries during the first half, but it was substitute Albrighton who made the needed impact from the bench as the 2015/16 title-winner leveled his side level.

Kiernan Dewsbury Hall played at Barnes and both the winger and Youri Tielemans saw successive quick shots before it fell to Albrighton, who equalized just three minutes after coming off the bench for his first league goal since August 2021.

Brighton looked for a penalty when Luke Thomas collided with Danny Welbeck but was refused before Solly March dropped in front of Metoma near the penalty spot.

lester Take advantage of the flow of play to take the lead. Thomas found his way to Barnes, who escaped from Van Heck’s attention to crash Brendan Rodgers’ side into the lead.

Roberto De Zerby’s visitors almost came back on terms as Ward awkwardly parried Alexis McAllister’s long-range shot, but were given little hope when Brighton substitute Ferguson raised his side’s level.

The tall Irish striker deftly connected with Estupinan’s pass, looking to head across Ward and just off the post in the 88th minute.

James Maddison threatened to finish off the stands while standing on a few free kicks but no fifth goal could be found, halting Leicester’s relegation and halting Brighton’s final performance in the win.
