Postpartum essentials

For all my Mama Lee out there, this one is for you! Please know that I am *planned* exceptional; I made our hospital bags With linens, post-delivery items and putting your entire game plan in place…

What I didn’t plan for was to have a last-minute caesarean section.

I went for an induction and ended up needing a C-section. While I knew it was totally possible, I didn’t really think about what an unplanned C-section would mean in terms of recovery time.

My only birth plan was to be pain-free; I got to 4cm, got an epidural, but I got an infection and started to have a fever, so I needed to have a caesarean. While the initial prognosis was alarming, the birth experience was very positive.

The recovery was the hardest part – you can’t lift more than 10lbs for 6 weeks, and even sitting is painful for the first 2 weeks.

In any case, regardless of whether you had a vaginal birth or a cesarean section, there are postpartum items that will be especially useful.

Based on my experience, I recommend having items that are useful for any type of delivery on hand; But I’ll wait to order anything else unless you know you’re going to have a C-section. I’ll detail it all below!

Whether you have a vaginal birth and a caesarean, here are my tips for preparing your postpartum essentials.
