“Saka and Emile Smith Roo!” Arsenal Hymn lyrics, original and video

Football fans are known for a lot of things, but their unique and silly talent for coming up with humorous cheers and starting to play them is a special asset.

We’ve seen some quite frankly great football cheers over the years and the best ones all have one thing in common – they’re so annoyingly catchy that thousands orchestrate them without a second thought.

One such memorable trifle is a hymn created by Arsenal Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe fans – you know the one – but where it originated from, and what in fact he hymn?

To be fair, it’s not hard to memorize a hymn. There are not many words…

here we are!
Saka and Emile Smith Ro!
I love it too ,
Love her,
Love her,
Love her,
I do not like that ,
no no, like her,
here we are!
Saka and Emile Smith Ro!

If you like – and if you’re an Arsenal fan you’re likely to repeat that a few times, the UAE will probably join you.

The melody of the hymn will probably ring quite a few bells, especially with older generation readers. That’s because Arsenal fans have adopted the chorus to the infectious 1977 Status Quo Rock music all over the world to the tune.

Rekindled in popularity in the contemporary era, the Status Quo tune initially reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Charts while the band’s 1977 album, also titled Rock music all over the worldpeaked at number five in the UK Albums Charts.

The song’s original chorus, before it was reinvented by Gunners fans, was actually not all that different.

I love it too ,
Love her,
Love her,
Love her,
I do not like that ,
no no, like her,
here we are!
Rock music around the world!

One slight change, and here it is, the football anthem.

When did Arsenal fans first chant “Saka and Emile Smith Rowe!”?

The chant is actually not old, having been in the repertoire of Arsenal fans since the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

There were few highlights in the early stages of the 2021/22 season, starting it off with three comprehensive defeats including a 5-0 defeat by Manchester City. Among those, though, came the 6-0 EFL Cup win over West Bromwich, which is where that cheer is believed to have been originally withdrawn.

Having relied on confidence for the first phase of his project at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta must have been relieved when the bright potential of his young side began to bear fruit. Saka and Smith Rowe shone throughout the 2021/22 season, with the former taking home the Arsenal Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season.

As the campaign continues, both players will collect a combined 30 Premier League goal contributions. As their song began to grow popular in the stands, Arsenal eventually climbed from the bottom of the table to achieve fifth place.

The injury may have halted Smith Rowe’s progress since then, however Saka He rose to become one of the greatest talents in Europe as Arsenal are now the envy of the Premier League, including Manchester City.

Even the players…
