The Fist of the North Star manga series gained popularity in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1983 to 1988. Written by Takeru Takemono and Tetsuo Harra, the iconic manga featured a hard-boiling action that follows the protagonist facing off against various enemies in a post-nuclear world.
This action-packed shonen manga series is one of the best-selling manga series of all time. With a circulation of over 100 million copies worldwide, the series continues to be loved by millennials around the world.
The Fist of the North Star Sandbox Experience, End of the Century LAND, aims to stay true to the dystopian experience found in the manga and translate it into a metaverse experience. Sandbox shared that the partnership will also include the production and sale of exclusive NFTs and more to enhance the experience and make it more immersive.
Tetsuo Hara, author of Fist of the North Star, shared in a press release:
“I’m looking forward to seeing the world of the ‘Fist of the North Star’ manga come to life in the new metaverse. It’s a little weird that it’s a voxel, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Kenshiro and the rest of Hokuto’s characters come to life and run wild.”
Sebastien Bourget, COO and co-founder of Sandbox, commented:
“In my home country of France, Fist of the North Star is hugely popular, and we are thrilled to welcome this globally beloved content. I look forward to bringing the unique world of Fist of the North Star to life in the metaverse and making it more accessible to both fans and a wider gaming audience.”
