Shane Beamer applauds again at the reporter who asked if the team had surrendered

After top-ranked Georgia slipped to a no-ranked South Carolina 48-7 Saturday in Columbia, Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer was asked if he felt any “giving up” in the locker room.

Beamer replied: “No hell.”

“What kind of a question is that, Phil? We’re 1-2 and we have a bunch of fighters in that room. And ‘give up’… that’s not part of this football program. Get out of here, man,” Beamer continued.

It was a rough afternoon for the Gamecocks against Team Nation #1.

The South Carolina defense surrendered 547 yards and allowed the Bulldog to convert five of the nine attempts down a third. The Gamecocks turned the ball three times on attack, which included two interceptions from Spencer Rattler.

South Carolina is clearly not up to the Beamer’s second-year Georgia national championship program, but competing with the Bulldogs is something the Gamecocks will need to do going forward to achieve their goals of climbing in the SEC East.

While the Gamecocks looked a bit too much on Saturday, Beamer insists there was no quitting in his squad, something that will be more easily showcased in the on-field producer the rest of the season than in the press conference after losing the blast as the hard-hitting underdog.
