Shazam! The anger of the two scenes is explained by the balance of the gods

This article contains spoilers for Shazam! Wrath of the Gods.

Billy Batson learns what it takes to become a hero Shazam! Wrath of the Gods But does he have a future in the DC comic book universe? One of the credits scenes seems hopeful, but it’s just too complicated.

The first movie It was about a teenager Billy (Asher Angel) who unlocks the powers of Shazam – wisdom sOlomoun, strength hercules, endurance atlas, strength zcourage achills and pacing Mercury – transforming him into a full-fledged superhero (played by Zachary Levi). He learned to control that power and share it with his brothers.

Wrath of the Gods It is about the responsibility and duty of being a super-powered family who must protect Philadelphia. Philadelphia is notoriously a tough crowd to win, and that task becomes even more difficult when a trio of super-powered gods (Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Rachel Ziegler) threaten to destroy not only Philly but all of planet Earth.

What does it mean to be strong? Where is the line between personal responsibility and the responsibility owed to people who cannot defend themselves? Why is Helen Mirren so mean in this movie? And why are you subjected to physical blows several times?

Through this experience, Billy learns what it means to be a hero, even a god. At the end of the movie, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect the world and is rewarded with a happy ending as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot in a brief cameo) resurrects him and reunites him with his loving family.

The mid-credits scene associated with the movie seems to indicate he’ll be back for more! Maybe even with Wonder Woman in some capacity.

But it’s not that simple…

Wrath of the GodsA mid-credits scene begins with two agents walking in and talking about how Amanda Waller, the character played by Viola Davis who drives suicide squad and the Justice Society, telling them to be careful when recruiting their next target. He appears to be extremely powerful, one of the most powerful forces they have ever come into contact with.

We find Billy doing some target drills with empty soda cans, hitting each with lightning bolts. Waller’s agents tell him she wants him to join “justice…” before Billy cuts them off. He says yes, believing they are recruiting him to be part of the Justice League. They correct Billy, telling him it’s not the Justice League, but rather the Justice Society which looks similar.

Billy is at a loss, wondering why someone would give such names. And he clearly wants to join the team that Wonder Woman is on. One of Waller’s clients, tired of this massive himbo, walks away angrily. Meanwhile, Billy keeps suggesting other names for Justice Society — including “Avengers Society” — before the scene was cut.

Normally, this is the part that Warner Bros. wants to do. And DC is all of us speculating whether or not Waller will add Shazam to their roster of superheroes. It also returns a reference to a file Black Adam Credits scene where Waller summons V. Superman to deal with Black Adam. If Waller has both Superman and Shazam on speed dial, she clearly has something in mind and could shore up defenses against the next big bad.

But wait! This isn’t a regular credits scene because Warner Bros.’s DC universe is the same. It restarts.

Back in OctoberDirector James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy And Suicide Squad Not to be confused with plain old suicide squad) and Peter Safran as co-chairs and co-CEOs of DC Studios, i.e. the people responsible for all of DC’s superhero storytelling. When John and Safran were named, the cinematic overhaul of the universe began.

Sequel to Dwayne Johnson Black Adam Didn’t get the green light. And no action Director Patty Jenkins bid for a third Wonder Woman film. Henry Cavill, who was rumored to be returning as Superman, was out, too. Although Jenn and Safran announced Slew of new projects on both sides of film and TV in January, none of the heroes we’ve actually met – including Shazam – seem to be part of the first chapter of Gunn and Safran’s novel.

the The first projects have been announced It has moved away from spotlighting DC’s most famous heroes – Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman – and will instead share the focus with characters like Super Girl, Swamp Thing and the group of superheroes known as The Authority. There are stories involving DC’s Big Three, but they’ll either show a different era in this superhero’s life (a Superman reboot movie is in the works) or show that hero in a more roundabout way (a TV show about Themyscira, the Amazon island where Wonder Woman was born, set a date but It doesn’t look like Wonder Woman will be a central character in it.)

Wrath of the GodsThe credits scene appears to have been done before the overhaul, as it’s now teasing a team that’s not part of Gunn-Safran’s schedule. Billy Batson’s future in the Justice League (he’s a member of the comic books) as well as his future in the DC cinematic world seems to be in doubt. It’s not the time to be a fan of Shazam.

All that said, he had a pretty good idea about similar names.

Wrath of the GodsThe second credits scene is an inside joke from the first movie

The end credits scene opens in a prison cell, Doctor Sivana (Mark Strong) to be exact. Four years have passed or so since we last saw the villain from the beginning Shazam! film! And just like before, he hears a familiar voice emitting from a grate in his cell. Upon further inspection, it’s Mr. Mind (voiced by Shazam! director David Sandberg), the tiny, worm-like villain who visited him in the credits scene from the first film.

Sivana asks Mister Mind why he didn’t come sooner. They were supposed to launch a big plan together. Years have passed, and Sivana says he is 57 years old. Scoundrel, apparently, is not for anyone who pays 60 years.

Mr. Mind apologizes and explains that despite his genius and telepathic abilities, in a physical sense he is a little worm who has to slowly slither all over the place. He has no wings. He also has no legs. Sivana’s visit takes some time.

DC Comics

Sivana apologizes for rushing Mister Mind and not acknowledging his physical limitations. He asks, now that Mr. Mind is here in his wormhole body, if they can get started on the plan. Mr. Mind says yes, but he has to take care of something else before they can begin, and starts – to Sivana’s complete frustration – away from the cell, leaving Dr. Sivana to wait a few more years.

I almost felt bad for Dr. Sivana. Given Shazam’s uncertain future at Warner Bros. Mister Mind’s snail’s pace may not be the only reason we’ll have to wait to see the two villains meet.
