The Bears rule three players out of NFL Week 3 against the Texans

Philos Jones Jr. doubts playing against Texas Originally appeared NBC Sports Chicago

It’s doubtful that Velos Jones Jr. will officially make his regular debut in the NFL on Sunday. The bear The rookie wide receiver had a hamstring injury returning to training camp. He has been training on and off all summer and only appeared in one pre-season game. However, Jones Jr. has improved as the week has gone by. He started as a DNP on a Wednesday, then did two limited practices on Thursday and Friday.

Two defensive stars of the Bears are also questionable in the team’s Week 3 game against Texas. Prominent cornerback Jaylon Johnson has a quadruple injury, while linebacker Rochuan Smith has a groin injury.

Johnson’s situation is even more worrisome, as he started the week as a full participant in practice, was then downgraded to a limited participant on Thursday, and finally became a non-participant on Friday. This kind of deterioration over the course of the week isn’t usually a good sign that someone is available on game day. Smith has been one of the DNP’s every day this week, yet it’s still in question. Bears previously mentioned that Smith is the type of player who can still play effectively without practice.

The Bears team also eliminated three players for the third week. Starting SAM midfielder Matt Adams (hamstring), tight end Ryan Griffin (Achilles) and backup safety Dane Crockshank (hamstring) are all unavailable for the Texas game.
