The Florida State football schedule for 2023 has been released

Even though the 2022 Florida State football season ended just over a month ago, all eyes have already turned to the 2023 season.

This is especially true this year as the Seminoles are expected to be in a preseason top five or top 10 team for 2023 thanks to a number of key pieces returning from the 2022 winning 10 team.

The 2023 buzz hit a major milestone Monday night with the announcement of the 2023 FSU football schedule on a special program on the ACC Network.

The schedule looks a bit different this season with the ACC doing away with divisions and introducing a new 3-5-5 schedule format in which each team plays three ACC teams each season and rotates among the other ten, each playing twice over four years.

For FSU, that means it will not play regular ACC Atlantic opponents NC State and Louisville in 2023, replacing them with former coastal teams at Virginia Tech and Duke.

Some aspects of FSU’s schedule have been known to come into play today. Most notably, it was known that the NFL would open the season against LSU on September 3 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando and then play the home opener against Southern Miss the following Saturday, September 9.

It was also known that FSU would close out the season against North Alabama on November 18th and then at Florida on November 25th.

As for the eight ACC games in the middle, we now know how they line up.

FSU will open road play at Boston College on September 16. Then comes another test very early in the season in which the Seminoles will stay on the road to face Clemson on September 23rd.

It is the first of what is expected to be two games next season between the Seminoles and the Tigers, and the second will be the ACC Championship Game. This will be the first time that FSU and Clemson have played each other in September since 2014.

Then, FSU gets its only week of the 2023 season on Sept. 30, leaving eight straight weeks with games to close out the regular season after the timely break, which again comes after a game against Clemson.

This second part of the season begins with FSU’s long-awaited ACC opener at home against Virginia Tech on Oct. 7. Although FSU will have to wait a while for its first home conference game to start, this will be the start of a three-game home stretch that will continue into October. 14 against Syracuse and ending October 21 against Duke.

This is FSU’s first stretch of three consecutive home games since 2012.

Then, FSU gets back on the road to close out October, playing Wake Forest on October 28. FSU has not won a road game in Wake Forest since 2017.

FSU opens November with another road game in Pitt on November 4. This will be the Union’s first trip to Pittsburgh since James Winston’s all-time debut to open the 2013 season.

From there, FSU closes out the ACC rivalry game, hosting rival Miami on November 11. This means that the Seminoles will play both of their in-state rivals during the final three weeks of the regular season.
