The HEL Group makes senior appointments as it continues to expand globally

The HEL Group (HEL), a global developer and manufacturer of innovative process improvement and safety laboratory instruments and scale, today announced three senior appointments: Hassan Hallaq Ph.D. as European Sales Director, Victoria Ordsmith as Marketing Director and Sarinah Longworth-Cook as People Director. The new hires will drive business growth and value creation as the company continues to expand globally.

Dr. Hassan Hallaq combines 10 years of field experience with 10 years of laboratory experience gained in laboratory equipment, software, and services for organizations serving the academic, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology research communities. Most recently, Hassan was Head of Research Services at UK Biocentre, the service arm of UK Biobank, and prior to that he spent seven years as a Senior Sales Specialist and National Automation Expert at Mettler Toledo, the multinational manufacturer of weighing and analysis instruments. As European Sales Director, he will bring the insight and experience necessary to engage HEL’s customer base and deliver solutions that support leading-edge applications. Hassan holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Essex on an MRC scholarship.

Victoria Ordsmith joins HEL with over eight years of analytical science instrumentation experience gained at Microsaic Systems in technical and commercial roles. In her most recent position as Director of Marketing and Business Development, she was instrumental in the company’s transformation from a systems vendor to a service-based organization. With a proven track record in commercializing scientific devices and effective marketing communications, Victoria will focus on supporting the HEL commercial team in her new role as Director of Marketing. Victoria has an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh and is part of a female mentoring group in mass spectrometry (FeMS), as well as being a mentor through the Epoc Mentoring Initiative.

Sarennah Longworth-Cook has been promoted to Director of People from her current position as Director of Training and Development at HEL. The strategic HR role is newly created to support HEL’s corporate growth trajectory and will see Sarennah lead HR and people initiatives, whilst also championing EDIB (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging). Sarennah holds a PhD and MSc from the University of Cambridge in materials science and materials modeling, respectively.
