The Bitcoin documentation also shared a screenshot of a chart drawn by Bitcoin guru and marketing consultant Dan Held in 2021, while listing the origins of Bitcoin. “The Prehistory of Bitcoin” was a story of “40 years of R&D and demand,” Held emphasized on the chart.

On June 17, 2021, Dan Held shared a thread on Twitter including an outline of Bitcoin’s history, along with a link to his blog post originally published in 2018, under the headline “Planting Bitcoin- Soil (3/4)”. The publication visualizes Bitcoin’s journey since 1974 when software developers Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn built the software code, becoming pioneers in the digital world.
Held acknowledged a wide range of individuals who stood by paving the way for the founding of Bitcoin in 2008. Adam Back, inventor of the PoW system “hashcash,” Nick Szabo, designer of “bitgold,” Wei Dai, inventor of “b-money,” and David Chaum, Founder of DigiCash, they are some among many who have been approached by the Bitcoin executive.
While thanking these people, Held referred to an earlier statement by bitcoin developer Satoshi Nakamoto, when he said, “Bitcoin is an implementation of Wee Die’s financial proposal… and Nick Szabo’s Bitgold proposal.”
