Tobin put Heath on OL Reign’s injury list at the end of the season

Tobin Heath will miss the rest of NWSL season after undergoing knee surgery last week.

OL Reign has placed the player on its season-ending injury list, and has announced that the recovery schedule is expected to extend beyond the 2022 campaign.

“Although this wasn’t an easy decision, we know it was the right one,” said OL Reign coach Laura Harvey. “We always want to keep our athletes and their health in mind, so we wanted to make sure Tobin would have the time needed to fully prepare for a successful comeback on the field.

“Despite losing time this season, Tobin has helped our young players immensely with her veteran mentality and experience.”

The player provided an update after the action, posting a photo on social media with the caption “Nobody said it was going to be easy.”

This news comes after Heath missed the last two games of OL Reign. Since joining the NWSL team in June, the US women’s national team figure has only made five appearances and managed one goal.

Previously at the Portland Thorns from 2013 to 2019, she joined briefly Arsenal and Manchester in England in 2020, where she also struggled with injuries, before eventually returning to the MLS in 2022.

Internationally, it is an essential component of USWNTShe won 181 international matches and scored 36 goals in her career. She also formed part of the 2015 and 2019 Women’s World Cup winning teams and won Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012 with the US team.
