Perched on the tip of Spain, the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar is an utterly unique and fascinating place to visit. Although it is relatively small, there are a host of some of the best things to do in Gibraltar dotted around the Rock.

Whatever term you choose, I want to share some of the best places to visit once you arrive. This way, the only thing you have to worry about are those pesky monkeys!

1.) Dolphin boat tour
One of the great things about Gibraltar is that it is completely surrounded by the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea. All this means there is a heap of wildlife, including dolphins that frequent the beaches and the wider Strait of Gibraltar.
Be sure to Book this Gibraltar dolphin cruise before arrival. This four hour tour is absolutely amazing from start to finish. Just Make sure to book ahead Because believe me when we say it is a popular activity to get filled with.
On board you will have a qualified spotter and skipper who will take you to some of the dolphins’ favorite spots. Not only that, but you will also be able to see the nearby scenery of Morocco and the coast as you surf the strait.

2.) Gibraltar Skywalk
Didn’t visit Gibraltar unless you walked across Gibraltar Skywalk. Well you obviously have but this is one of the best things to do in Gibraltar for the sights.
Trust me, the views from the Gibraltar Skywalk are amazing. In fact, you will be able to see the continent of Africa and across Spain while looking out over the area.
Now, the glass floor can be a little daunting if you have a fear of heights. However, the glass has been tested and can withstand the weight of more than 300 people.
After that, head to Ammar Kosher Bakery For some of the best coffee and delicious pastries.
3.) Go to Europe Point
Perched in the Southern District, visiting Europe Point is one of the best things to do in Gibraltar when traveling around the region
The area is great and be sure to check out the Europa Point lighthouse and go to Harding’s Battery.
Europe Point is an old 19th century lighthouse with a chapel and mosque.
This is the best place for history buffs to learn about the history of Gibraltar and is worth checking out if you want to get off the streets.

4.) O’Hara’s Battery (The Highest Point)
Visiting the O’Hara Battery is one of the highest points on the Rock, and one of the best things to do in Gibraltar for the views.
It is about 425 meters high but feels higher at the top. Trust me when I say, this destination is worth it…even if it’s a trek.
Once used as a military base, O’Hara’s Battery is now visitable (but closed at some points in the year).
Take your time walking up the steep stairs. Just keep your eyes peeled for those pesky monkeys.
They can be very demanding if they see you eating or drinking.
5.) Gibraltar Cable Car
Can you imagine rock climbing without the arduous walking or hiking? Then take the Gibraltar Cable Car which takes only 6 minutes to climb over 400 metres.
At the top station, and on the way up, you’ll get a stunning view of all of Gibraltar and the surrounding area.
Oh, and don’t forget you can exit (from the upper station) to St Michael’s Cave. It’s nice to go indoors and it’s easy to pair both activities into one trek up the rock.

6.) St. Michael’s Cave
St. Cave It’s amazing and Mother Nature has taken thousands of years to do it.
Honestly, the stalagmites and stalactites are great to see and absolutely huge. You see, St. Michael’s Cave is the largest on the island.
Another experience you must check out is Cathedral Cave where the underground concert hall seats up to 400 people. Cool, isn’t it?
7.) Great Siege Tunnels
Exploring the Great Siege tunnels is like traveling to a completely different place. It is very unique and one of the best things to do in Gibraltar if you want to learn about the history of this region.
As you can see, it was built many centuries ago to help Britain fend off attacks from neighboring Spain and France.
It is open every day for visiting and the entry cost is included in the cost of the nature reserve. that you will pay. Last entry is just after 5pm, so don’t leave it too late.
8.) Main Street and Casemates Square
Exploring a new place is very exciting! And Gibraltar has plenty of sites to visit while traversing the rocks and surrounding coastline.
A visit to Casemates Square is one of the largest public spaces, and one of the best things to do in Gibraltar for a chilled day of food, drinks, and picnics.


Afterwards, take a trip to the Governors House, discover Parliament House, and head to the Gibraltar National Museum to learn about the history of the area.
Oh, and don’t forget to pop into Holy Trinity Cathedral, too.

9.) Moorish Castle
Moorish Castle stands above Gibraltar and dates back centuries from the time when the Moorish conquests reached Europe from North Africa.
Exploring this place is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the area and its 14th century architecture. We loved it and it’s well worth spending an hour or so walking around the local area.
10.) Windsor Suspension Bridge
While walking up (or down) the Rock of Gibraltar, be sure to walk across the Windsor Suspension Bridge. It is about seventy meters long and is a great way to get around the area.
Just be sure to take some comfortable shoes and some water. The road can be long and hot in the summer months.
