Twitter May Soon Kill Device Labels ‘Twitter For iPhone’ And ‘Twitter For Android’ – Technology News, Firstpost

Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced that the social media platform will stop adding device stickers or labels identifying the type of device that was used to tweet. Musk shared the information from his Twitter account, writing, “And we will finally stop adding the device the tweet was written on (wasting screen space and account) underneath each tweet. Literally, no one even knows why we did that.”

By using these tags, it “helps users better understand how to post a tweet,” Twitter claimed earlier. Twitter’s help site states, “This additional information provides context about the Tweet and its author.” He adds, “If you don’t recognize the source, you may want to learn more about the content.” Additionally, this post has been used to expose Android brand advocates tweeting out the rivalry on iOS devices.

Elon Musk said Sunday that Twitter will soon enable organizations to identify the Twitter accounts they are associated with, as Twitter’s new owner continues to look for ways to curb fake accounts on the platform. Rolling out soon, Musk said in a tweet on Sunday. Twitter will enable organizations to identify other Twitter accounts they are already associated with.

The social media platform paused its recently announced $8 blue-check subscription service Friday as fake accounts went viral, and new owner Elon Musk returned the “official” badge to some users of the social media platform. Fake accounts claiming to be big brands with the blue check have popped up since the new launch, including Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX, as well as Roblox, Nestle, and Lockheed Martin.

Twitter has cut 4,400 of its 5,500 contract employees, and the cuts are expected to have a significant impact on content moderation and core infrastructure services, Casey Newton, a reporter for technology publication Platformer, tweeted on Sunday.
