Vivo X90 Pro+ will be the world’s first smartphone to feature the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will power most of the flagship Android phones that will be launched in 2023, Vivo is ahead of everyone and comes before the new year, when it launches the smartphone in China in early December this year.

Vivo is the first smartphone maker in the market with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device, Vivo X90 Pro+

Looking at the specifications available from online sources, we see that the Vivo X90 Pro + gets a 6.78-inch OLED display, 3200 x 1440 resolution with support for 120Hz refresh rate, and the device will have up to 12 GB of RAM, and a storage capacity of 256GB, a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charger support, and a rare signature of Qualcomm’s ultra-compact Sonic Max 3D fingerprint sensor. We also get 50W wireless charging.

The cameras are big too, with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor leading the way, along with a 50MP portrait camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP 3.5x zoom. The cameras were co-developed with Zeiss and appear to be quite powerful. In fact, Vivo is very confident with the cameras on this smartphone, especially with regards to the 1-inch Sony sensor, which Vivo calls the “King of One Inch Sensors”. While the Vivo X90 Pro+ is not the first to introduce the Sony IMX989 sensor, Vivo has provided it with many improvements that make it special.

Vivo’s suite of software features such as horizon correction, lens flare portrait mode, astrophotography mode, and 100x hybrid zoom complete the camera setup. The phone can also record 8K videos at 30fps, with support for Dolby Vision and LOG10. The company has equipped the phone with V2 ISP for image processing. It features 45MB of SRAM and delivers 16TOPS per watt of performance.

For Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and what enables it, users will get UFS 4.0 storage, a new and faster flash storage standard that can reach read speeds of up to 4,200MB/s and write speeds of up to 2,800MB/s. We can also expect to see Wi-Fi 7 support. However, we don’t know for sure if the Vivo X90 Pro + will have the latest new SoC bells and whistles.
